| The
Heartland Council has entered into a brand new project and partnership with
the Jacob's House International, Inc. a
private non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, located in Pacific Junction, Iowa. The
organization over the years has gather
clothes and travel aides to ship to the needy in Bucharest, Romania.
A Methodist church in
Bellevue, an Independent Christian Church in Missouri, and us (H.C. Pioneers
of Omaha) help gather the
clothing and bikes to ship
Romania. The
last shipment Sept. 1, 2007 was of 350 boxes of clothes and 70 bicycles
shipped in a "Seatainer". Jacbo's House representative leading
the project for the organization, CEO Bob Wolkins of Pacific Junction, Iowa,
said that the average cost to ship the labors of their love was around
$8000.00.

This is where the council needs
your HELP Right Now |
The fit for the council is to focus currently on the Repair and the
Restore of 120 Bicycles into riding condition. Some just need
re-lubrication or parts like cables, brake-pads, chains, tires-tubes, and for
sure some adjustments from loving hands with mechanical skills. We can assist
on parts but we need YOU. If a bicycle appears to need over $20 worth of parts
we generally set them aside for our general-spares parting out. |

| Presently the
To-Be-Fixed and/or re-lubricated Bicycles can be delivered to your garage or
work area in groups (as many as 60 in a trip or even fewer) if you would
kindly be willing to take some to repair all parts will be paid for.
What we need is your hands to fix them.
We are always collecting
good used bikes and if you know of any let us know and we will come pick them
up if they would like to donate them.
Help us fill our next "Seatainer" with your new or used
items. |
