Age 78 Lincoln, NE resident. Passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln. Frank was born on April 11, 1939 in Omaha, the son of Franklin Royce and Alice Fern (Kreft) Patrick. He graduated from South High School in Omaha, with the class of 1959. Frank married Joyce Hascall in April 1996 in Louisville, NE. Frank retired from AT&T in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion, and Oak Street Baptist Church in Kingman, AZ. Frank enjoyed bowling, traveling, painting, building bird houses and doll houses, singing in the church choir, and going to the Laughlin Casino. Francis “Red” Kennedy, Sr., age 88, of Springfield, NE, died on Friday December 8, 2017. Red was born on October 23, 1929, son to Francis P. and Isabelle. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret McAndrew, in 1950.

Red served during the Korean War and eventually returned to the family farm, the Peaceful Valley Ranch. He loved Irish music so much that he helped organize local concerts, including a benefit for the Madonna School. He retired from Lucent, formally Western Electric, after more than 30 years.

In the early years of retirement, Red and Maggie became Irish music groupies. In order to get their favorite bands to Omaha, Red booked gigs for Irish bands around the Midwest and even volunteered to drive them from city to city. They enjoyed touring in their van in search Irish music and festivals.

Red is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons: Tom, Mike (Connie), John (Sue), and Pat (Elizabeth); daughters: Colleen Smart, Mary Stoops (Roger), Jane, and Kathy Everett; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Patrick; and sister, Lavelle Rice. Preceded in death by parents, Francis and Isabelle; son-in-law, Steve Smart; and grandchildren, Chad and Samantha.

Ronald Irvin Schaupp of Havelock, Iowa formerly of Little Sioux, Iowa died on his 75th birthday on December 3, 2017, at the Pocahontas Manor in Pocahontas, Iowa. He was born December 3, 1942, to Henry and Ruby (Barber) Schaupp in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised in Dunlap, and he graduated from Dunlap High School in 1961. Ron proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years serving in Korea. After his honorable discharge, Ron returned to Omaha and worked at gas stations and then Western Electric – which eventually became Avaya and he retired from there. Ron married Patricia Barnhart in 1987 in Arizona. The couple lived in Little Sioux, Iowa. After his retirement, Ron helped area farmers. In 2014, Ron and Pat moved to Havelock, Iowa and he worked for Armstrong Drilling in Pocahontas. Ron collected old tractors and was active in the Albert City Threshers for over 50 years. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Schaupp; sister, Jesse Messenger; and step-son, Michael Nicholson. He is survived by his wife, Pat Schaupp of Havelock, Iowa; two step-children, Jamie Nicholson and his wife Julie of Nevada, Iowa, Tammy Nicholson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one grandson, Dillon Nicholson; and many other relatives and friends.

Jim Murphy, 70, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 20, 2017, in Lincoln. He was born May 9, 1947 to Joseph and Ann (Erhart). He is a 1966 graduate of Weeping Water High School.
Jim was in the Army from 1966 – 1968 serving in the Vietnam War. He was employed at Commscope (formerly Western Electric) in Omaha. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #237 Firing Squad and St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Manley. In previous years, he enjoyed coaching Little League football and baseball, volunteering as a Weeping Water fireman and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Jim married Dorothy (Parson) on November 1, 1966 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Manley. Three children were born to this union, Doug (Kelly) of Constantine, MI, Miki Bruns, of Elmwood, and Bobbi (Darold) Keene, of Otoe. Son Roland (Carolanne) Weidle, of Germany who lived with the family as an exchange student in 1982-83. Grandchildren Ellen, KiAnna, Emy, Caleb, Josiah, Kara, Samuel, Isaac, and Evelyn Murphy, Tyler and Dylan Burns, Emily and Anna Weidle.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Barbara and Lynn Parson, son-in-law John Bruns, brother Joe Murphy, sisters-in-law Charlotte Clauss, Vicki Murphy and Lee Murphy, and niece Brenda Foster.
He is survived by sisters Mary (Bill) Stoner, Kathleen Murphy and Margaret (Carl) Voyles. Brothers Charles (Carolyn), Michael, Jerome (Nancy), Steve and John; sisters-in-law Cammy (Mike) Bridgman, and Kathy (Rod) Johnson. Brothers-in-law Dale (Debbie), Alan (Patty), John (Maryann), Terry (Linda), David (Lori), and Jeff Parson. Godson Chris Clauss, many many nieces nephews, cousins and an abundance of friends.
Visitation will be Friday at the Church from 1:00 P.M. until time of Rosary at 7:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5-7 pm.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Manley, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Vernon “Dale” Suchsland was born in Smith Center, KS to parents Cecil C. and Zola M. (Worley) Suchsland on February 25, 1933.
The family moved to a farm in the rural Dawson, NE area in 1942. They continued to reside in this locale. Dale married Margaret “Peggy” L. Kanaly on April 19, 1952 and two children, Debbie and Scott, were born to this union.
Dale served his country nobly in the US Navy and later worked over 30 years for AT&T as a machinist. He enjoyed spectator sports, woodworking, and time spent with family and friends.
The later years of Dale’s life were spent at the VA Home in Bellevue, NE where he passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ormal “Dean” Suchsland of Danville, VA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Peggy; daughter Debbie (Dave) Hernandez of Omaha; son Scott (Viola) Suchsland of Omaha; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Tom was born February 3, 1932 to Josephine and Louis Kramar Sr. in Schuyler. He attended Schuyler Schools and graduated with the class of 1951.
In June 1951 he joined and served in the US Navy during the Korean War aboard a submarine rescue ship, the USS Caucal.
On November 23, 1987 he married Louise Frances. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska until his retirement from Western Electric Company, and then moved back to his childhood home in Schuyler.
Tom loved playing golf. He was recognized for a hole-in-one at Barbers Point Naval Air Station, Oahu, Hawaii while serving in the Navy. He also loved fishing with his son Larry in Minnesota.
Tom is survived by 3 sons Paul, Larry, and David and a daughter Mary Jane, a stepson Spencer, 3 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Josephine and Louis Kramar Sr., 5 brothers Louis Jr. (Bully), Joe (Pokie), Emil (Skinny), Jim, Frank and a sister Josephine Sims (Jokie) and his wife Louise (Lulu).

John was born August 5, 1940 to Frank Joe, Jr., and Agnes (Clark) Konfrst, in Plattsmouth, NE. He was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth and graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the Class of 1959. After graduating from High School, John began working for Western Electric in Omaha.
John met and later married, Linda Marie Long, on September 19, 1960, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. John and Linda made their home in Omaha, NE. for five years, then relocated to Murray, NE. To this union three children were born, two sons, Daniel, and Gary, and one daughter, Nadine.
John worked for Western Electric 38 years, retiring in 1996, as a Materials Supply Specialist.

John enjoyed his home in Murray and sharing his life with Linda. John was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agnes Konfrst, and his wife Linda. Rosness, George E. Feb 14, 1922 – Jun 23, 2017 George Rosness went to God after suffering an acute brain hemorrhage on June 9, 2017 and died 15 days later. Born February 14, 1922, he was 95 years old. George was predeceased by his wife of 42 years Marie, his son Marty, infant daughter Mary Grace, and his parents. He is survived by his two daughters Trish and Beth, grandson Eric, granddaughter Melissa and great grandson Matthew. George grew up in Bozeman, MT. the only child of Grace and Henry. After graduating from Montana State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he moved to Seattle to work for Pan Am on a project for the Navy. Ultimately, he was commissioned in the Navy and taught airplane engine mechanics to pilots in Pensacola, FL during WWII. After the Navy, in February of 1947, he began his new job at Western Electric in Chicago as an engineer. While in Chicago, he met the love of his life Marie in church and they married shortly thereafter. They moved into Marie’s home in Oak Park, IL, where they had four children. In 1958, George accepted a new position with Western Electric in Omaha where he remained until his retirement in 1984. George was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church serving in the Knights of Columbus, as a Eucharistic Minister, organizer of lectors and a member Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulcher. In 2015, he received the Regnum Dei Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Catholic Church. Above all, he was a loving and supportive husband and father. FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, 10:00am at Christ the King Catholic Church, with Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. VISITATION with the family begins Tuesday, after 5:00pm at the 72nd Street Chapel, with a WAKE SERVICE at 7:00pm. The Nocturnal Adoration Group will offer a ROSARY at 4:30pm. James passed away June 11, 2017, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 81. He was born July 22, 1935, in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of Anthony Hron and Emma Tuma. He married Dixie Wilson on June 16, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska and worked in Phone Equipment Manufacturing for AT&T for nearly 30 years. James lived in Mountain Home since 1996, moving from Omaha, Nebraska. He was a member of the Cumberland Fellowship Presbyterian Church and the BPOE Elks Lodge #1714, where he filled the office of Tiler for several years. He enjoyed and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America from 1970 until 1982. In that time, he awarded the Eagle Scout Badge to 15 boys in his troop. He held numerous adult scouter training awards and attended the adult scouting Woodbadge training. Jim was awarded the Woodbadge Beads in 1976 and was nominated and awarded the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver in 1982.

James is survived by his three sons; Kelly Krutina, Danial Krutina and David Krutina all of Omaha, NE; his daughter, Kimberly Huck of Omaha, NE, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and friend, Don Feltus, of Mountain Home, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dixie Lee Krutina, brother, Frank Krutina and sister, Marie Hughes.

Gayle Jane Jacobsen was born to Janet McDonald Jacobsen and Reid H. Jacobsen at the Blair, NE, hospital on August 2, 1951. She married James J. Roberts “Joe” in Neola, IA, on April 24, 1971 and they both retired from Western Electric in 2006.

Gayle was an avid gardener and accomplished artist specializing in oils and pastels. We will look for her presence through her beloved butterflies.

Gayle’s family always meant everything to her; she is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joe Roberts; children: Derek Roberts, Kyle (Megan) Roberts, Tahni Roberts and partner Mark Kaufman; grandchildren: Isaac Roberts, Abigayle aufman, Brookelyn Kaufman, Avery Roberts and Corey Roberts; sister, Dawn Thompson; as well as many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her beloved Mom and Dad and will be laid to rest beside them in the Blair, NE, Cemetery.

Nekuda, Adeline Ann Age 89 Adeline Nekuda of Olathe, KS, passed away May 22, 2017 at Villa St. Francis. Adeline was born May 16, 1928 in Bee, NE, to Frank and Anna (Duhon) Kobza. She graduated from Dwight Assumption High School. Adeline married Leonard Nekuda on November 19, 1949 in Dwight, NE. Adeline worked as a factory worker at Lucent Technologies in Omaha, NE, for 30-1/2 years. Adeline moved to Paola, KS, in 2005 to be near family. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Bellevue, NE, and was a member of IBEW Union through Western Electric. Adeline raised a large garden and canned the food, she liked dancing the polka and waltzes with Leonard, loved singing, enjoyed rubber stamping cards and doing crafts. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; and siblings: Alois (Lou) Kobie, Frank V. Ruth Ann Foster, 96, of Lincoln, passed away May 21, 2017. Ruth Ann was born Jan. 22, 1921, in Lincoln to Edward and Nona (Dalton) Foster. Ruth Ann was a railroad switchboard operator at the Burlington Lincoln Haymarket depot and later worked at AT&T – Western Electric in Omaha. Ruth Ann was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt with three generations of nieces and nephews to dote upon. She was a master of the family tree and skilled in remembering birthdays of all without the use of a calendar.

A lifelong resident of Lincoln, she loved to tell stories of the penny bridge, sledding down Lake Street, and the many families that had come and gone. Ruth Ann was a devoted family member and a caring aunt to many nieces and nephews. Always present at important family events, weddings, or other get-togethers. Her memory and recollection of facts and events never ceased to amaze. She rarely forgot an anniversary, a birthday, or important lifetime event. Lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament parish. Attended Prescott and Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, Irving Junior High, Cathedral High School and Lincoln High School.

She was a skilled seamstress, who also enjoyed reading, gardening, crossword puzzles and she was always ready for fun. Ruth Ann was a member of the Cornhusker Ski Club and made lifelong friendships through the Ski Club.
Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marjorie Morrison (Montgomery, Ill.), Rosemary Mullen (Omaha), Rita Bourdages (Bend, Ore.), Janet Nebel (Omaha). Survived by a brother Edward B. Foster of Lincoln.

Donald B. “Don” Luben, 82, of Fremont died Monday, April 17, 2017, at his home.
Don was born June 21, 1934, at Clearwater to Howard and Lucille (Hughes) Luben. He grew up at Clearwater and was a 1952 graduate of Clearwater High School. He then worked at Luben Produce. He served in the U.S. Army from May 9, 1956, until Sept. 4, 1958. He enlisted in the National Guard and served at the O’Neill and Fremont locations for 26 years. He moved to Fremont in 1965. He was employed at Western Electric until retiring May 31, 1992. He then worked as a bailiff at the Dodge County Courthouse.
Don married Ruth Lorraine Brandt on June 25, 1961. She died Nov. 23, 2001.
He then married Elayne Neal on Dec. 28, 2002, at Northern Heights Baptist Church in Norfolk.
Don was active in the Evangelical Free Church in Fremont and served as church secretary and was active in the men’s church groups. He was also active in the Fremont Citywide Prayer Breakfast, Gideons at the Fremont Camp, Low-Income Ministry Board and was a Care Corps volunteer.
Don enjoyed bird watching, talking with people, the St. Louis Cardinals, traveling on bus trips to the East and West coasts and Canada and Europe; taking kids on camping trips and was an avid collector of writing pens. He volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 104.
He is survived by his wife, Elayne; sons, Mike (Angie) Luben and Dan (Sharon) Luben, all of Fremont, and Dennis (Lisa Ruroede) Luben of Goose Creek, S.C.; daughters, Tammy Ruroede of Norfolk and Jeannie (Eugene) Deane of Fremont; sister, Lois Brittell of Omaha; grandchildren, Taylor, Jessika, Benjamin, Zachary and Trevin Luben; two granddaughters and one grandson in Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Luben; stepdaughter, Patricia O’Toole; and granddaughter, Olivia Joy.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 21, at the Evangelical Free Church in Fremont. The Rev. Jim Moore and Rev. Ryan Miller will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday, all at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont with military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard.

She graduated from Omaha South High School. Beverly assembled and inspected communication equipment for Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Avaya, and ComScope. She retired in 2005. Beverly liked hunting deer and turkey and going deep-sea fishing. She especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and occasionally having a good glass of wine. She loved attending the “little church in the country”. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Michael. Donald Lynn Taylor, age 68, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2017. Don was born on May 6, 1948, in Haynesville, Louisiana. He called Shreveport his home.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karleen Thomas Taylor of Bella Vista and daughters: Donna Michelle Hickey of Chesapeake, Virginia and Brandy Taylor Dick of Vivian, Louisiana. Don has three grandchildren. Karleen’s daughters include Peggy Smith Feazel of Honduras and Lisa Renee Parker of Lebanon, Tennessee. Additional family includes six grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Alice Corine Metcalf Taylor and Johnnie A. Taylor, of Haynesville, Louisiana.

Carl served in the US Navy during the Korean War and graduated from Southeast Community College in Milford, NE. He married Alma F. Fruehling on June 19, 1955 at Immanuel State Line Lutheran Church, Wymore, NE. Carl worked in telecommunications manufacturing for AT&T from 1959 to 1992. He also was a ham radio operator and enthusiast, and a huge Nebraska football fan. He loved fishing, fly tying, and operating RC (radio controlled) vehicles. He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shephard and VFW. Barbara A. Wischmann, 83, of Ashland, died Thursday, December 29, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln. She was born December 15, 1933, in Lincoln, to Vernon and Gertrude (Brakhage) Stewart.

She is survived by husband of 42 years Robert Wischmann; children: Sherry (Fred) Starr of Greenwood, Tom Smith of Ashland, and Jodi (Kelly) Lathrop of Lincoln; grandchildren: Jeff Starr, Matt (Jackie) Starr, Emily (Nathan) DeLashmutt, and Nathan Lathrop; five great-grandchildren; brothers: Jerry (Penny) Stewart, Kenny (Jean) Stewart, and Jimmy Stewart; sisters: Janice (Randy) Horn and Linda (Larry) Meyer; many nieces and nephews.
