Jerry M. Fitzgerald
October 9, 1941 – November 17, 2021
Jerry Michael Fitzgerald, (AKA Jeremiah Michael James Fitzgerald Jr.) born in Paris, Illinois on October 9, 1941. He left earth for the loving arms of Jesus on November 17, 2021, in Omaha, Nebraska.
Jerry’s Uncle Jim gave him a harmonica when he was five years old. A few minutes later, out came a song he had heard on the radio earlier that day. Jerry went on to master the piano, guitar, banjo, fiddle, accordion, etc…mostly self-taught. He loved to play for his friends and family. Jerry played guitar and sang in numerous bands including Wildwoods, Vigilantes, and High Valley Drifters. If it was old and country, he knew it and memorized over 500 songs. Jerry also wrote many of his own songs including Picture on the Wall and Carolina Moon.
He loved his family, Harleys, hats, and his dogs. His guitar collection would put the biggest rock stars to shame. God gave Jerry many gifts, and he was not afraid to use them for good. You could call him a triple threat in some sense with his hard-working family man ethics, his ability to entertain and make everyone in the room be glad they were there, not to mention his rugged good looks. Jerry also loved to give away guitars to the next generations because of his love of music and how grateful he was to have found his talent and used it at a young age.
He also loved camping and travel and spent many summer and winter vacations traveling the United States and later the world. Jerry absolutely loved going to Sturgis, South Dakota with his nephews and friends. He also spent many Christmases dressed up in his Santa suit for all his young nieces and nephews in Paris, Il. One of his last visits to Charleston, South Carolina, where he spent many winters after retirement, he rode his Harley in the Santa suit showing up at events to greet everyone as Jolly St. Nick.
Jerry worked 40 years at Western Electric, was President of the Pioneers Club, Auctioneer, and Lead Singer and Guitarist in multiple bands . Music was part of his life every day and he loved to entertain his family and friends. He was a bell ringer for Salvation Army, served at Boys and Girls Club, and member of St. Gerald Catholic Church.
Forever remembered by his loving wife, Linda Fitzgerald; sister, Rosemary Hopper; daughters: Peggy Hattam (Paul), Rose Burke (Jeff), Kelly Fowler (Judge); grandchildren: Heather McShannon (Nick), Aubrey Mitchell (William), Taylor Lamb (Aaron), Shannon Tipton (Jon), MacKenzie Fowler; great-grandchildren: Nevaeh McShannon, Abraham and Clementine Mitchell and Lindsey Lamb; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Marguerite Fitzgerald; brothers: Jack, Patrick, Paul Fitzgerald; sister, Joan Larimer; daughter, Jerretta Fitzgerald; grandson, Joshua Hattam.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 19th from 5pm to 7pm. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, November 20that 10am, all at West Center Chapel. Interment: Calvary Cemetery on Monday, November 22nd at 11am. Memorials are suggested to Toys for Tots.

Darrel Sudduth notified us of the passing of David A. Vojteck. David retired from the Omaha Works under AT&T on 3/31/1992 with 35 years of service. Darrel remembered that David worked in the tool room. https://heafeyheafey.com/david-a-vojtech/
David A. Vojtech
November 7, 1929 – November 1, 2021
Preceded in death by wife, Marian; parents, James and Alice; brother, Leon; sister, Carol. Survived by sister, Janice (John); sons: Kenneth (Pam), Robert (Colleen), and Jeffrey (Patricia); eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; seven step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, and friends.
David was born on the family farm in Morse Bluff, Nebraska on November 7, 1929. Just to the north, across the Platte River, David was raised and grew up on his parents’ farmstead a mile north of North Bend, Nebraska. Dave graduated from North Bend High School in 1947. He worked for the telephone company as a lineman. In 1948 Dave finished studies at Electronic Radio Television Institute in Omaha.
On June 25, 1949, he married the love of his life, Marian Peterson. They made residence in Scribner, Nebraska, then later moved into Holy Ghost Parish in South Omaha and Dave began his 34-year career at the Western Electric Plant on 120th and Center Street. In 1960 Dave and Marian moved to Ralston where they raised their three sons.
From farmer to engineer, Dave quietly demonstrated the importance of hard work and perseverance. The lesson taught was: You have to work for whatever it is you want to attain. While at Western Electric, during his lunch hour, he joined a makeshift band, playing his trumpet—this continued until recently. Dave and Marian joined a singing group from work and for 35 years sang together, bringing joy to people in nursing homes around the Omaha area. He enjoyed the “old tunes” for the rest of his life, singing them from memory even to his last days.
Dave loved his family. The lesson he exemplified was unconditional love: God/faith first, and love your family members no matter what happens in life. Along with his morning devotional, David drove to daily Mass for as long as he could; when that was no longer possible, he watched church on television. Weekend and Christmas trips to North Bend to visit his parents and Fremont to see his grandfather were commonplace.
David taught his children many life lessons by example. He was so kind to everyone he met, often beginning with a simple “hi” and continuing on parting with “nice talking with you”…no one a stranger. Dave was active in the Ralston community coaching youth baseball and golfing in the St. Gerald golf league and with dear friends or whomever wanted to shoot a round. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. Maintaining and repairing cars was a Saturday activity when needed. His handyman skills were somewhat creative (some jerry-rigging), yet durable. David was very involved at St. Gerald Church, where he and Marian made many lifelong friends. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
Dave was a loving and devoted husband to Marian. When she was diagnosed with dementia/Alzheimer’s, he took care of her at home for about eight to nine years. He would dress her, put on her makeup and earrings, and take her places to walk to stimulate her mind, in addition to all the caregiving needs in between. He missed her every day since she went home to be with the Lord.
David will be so deeply missed. Thank you, Lord, for this honorable, respectful, loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
VISITATION: Friday, Nov. 19th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. Thomas Matthew White
June 12, 1963 – July 22, 2021
Tom was born on June 12, 1963 in Elgin, Illinois. He lived in the suburbs of Chicago until age 8, when he moved to Omaha, Nebraska with his mother, brother, and sister. He continued to visit his father in Illinois during the summer months. His father remarried and had a son. Tom loved to go camping and fishing with his younger brother, and kept that tradition of yearly, family, camping trips to Door County, Wisconsin, throughout his adult life until the last few years.
As Tom got older, he loved motor cross racing and sailing. He attended Westside High School and graduated in 1981 and furthered his education at Southeast Community College in Milford. He graduated from Southeast in 1984. He became a tool and die maker and was hired by AT&T, which later became Connectivity Solutions. After many unexpected twists and turns in the road of life, it was there that he met the love of his life, Linda, in 2004.
Eventually, they combined their families, his three children and her two. He attended all their activities and was a very loving and supportive father. Tom was a diligent worker, but was forced to find another job when the factory closed in 2010. He had a few more jobs, leading to the discovery for the need of a double bi-pass at age 48. He made a full recovery and began working at Novartis in Lincoln for two years, until he was offered a job closer to home at Kellogg’s. He enjoyed each and every job along the way, meeting new co-workers, many who remained close friends. In the latter part of his employment at Kellogg’s, he noticed a difficulty with the function of his hands.
After numerous doctor appointments, he was finally diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in June of 2016. Following the devastating news, he continued to work as long as physically possible, knowing he would never get to enjoy his plans for retiring someday. Slowly over the years, he lost the use of his legs, his voice, his arms, his hands, and finally the ability to breathe without the aid of a machine, but he never gave up hope for a cure. He lived each day with courage and strength and somehow kept his sense of humor. He dearly loved his family, his three little doggies and his loving wife, who devoted herself to his care until the end. He touched the lives of everyone he met, especially those in the medical field that walked this journey with him. He was truly an inspiration.
Tom is preceded in death by father, John P. White; mother, Virginia and step-father, Paul Thomsen; sister-in-law, Denise White. Survived by his loving wife, Linda D. White; children, Garith White, Matthew White, Jessi (Bronson) Marsh, Brandon Book, Kayla (Conor) Schnell; Granddaughters, Savannah White, Penelope White; sister, Holly (Myron) Peterson; brothers, Roger White, Randy (Katie) White; Stepmother, Linda K. White; brothers-in-law, Don (Sharron) Warner, Larry (Patty) Warner; sisters-in-law, Diana (Bill) Hutcheson, Cheryl (Dave) Japp; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Frank David Conley Sr.
NOVEMBER 4, 1937 – JULY 29, 2021
Frank David Conley Sr. (Gwandpa Fwank)
Proceeded in Death by: Wife: Rose (Kraft) Conley Parents: Leo and Loretta Conley Brothers: Jerry and Bob Conley Survived by: Children: Frank Conley Jr, Tony Stella (Lori), Sister: Monica Grandchildren: Madison, Dustin, Shannon, Matt, AJ Great Grandson: Creighton Nephew: Mark, Sister-in-law: Carol Special Friend: Cathy Justice and friends at Anchor of Hope Church and Hillcrest Millard Rehab
Frank was born and raised in Waverly, Iowa, and grew up swimming, running, and playing various sports. He served in the United States Army for 2 years and later moved to Omaha where he was employed by and eventually retired from Western Electric (or AT&T or Lucent, etc)
He was an avid runner and bicyclist, competing or participating in marathons, 10K runs, triathlons and bike rides across the state of Nebraska. Frank loved and was a caregiver to his wife Rose who battled kidney loss and the lifestyle that comes with dialysis for over 23 years. He missed her every day of his life for the last 18 years.
Indeed, he was speaking of her on his last day.
He spent the last 3 months at Hillcrest Millard Rehab, where he changed the dynamics of the place. Soon he had residents meeting for meals and meeting outside. He rolled through stopping at people’s rooms, encouraging them, and inviting them along for the ride. He and two others were known as the Three Musketeers. It was not uncommon to pull into the parking lot for a visit and see a bunch of them sitting outside (with visiting family) solving world problems.
Multiple residents, family, and staff told us about the impact he had there. Like the thief on the cross (Luke 23:42-43), Frank accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior very late in his life- a strategy we do NOT recommend. Because of this, he was at peace in his last hours on earth, and now, so are we. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to the Kidney Foundation or Fresh Hope for Mental Health.

Thomas Munger
January 4, 1939 – April 23, 2021
Mr. Thomas (Tom) Munger, age 82, of Linn Creek passed away Friday, April 23 surrounded by his family and friends with his million-dollar view of the lake.Tom was born January 4, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Anne (Rezac) Wehrli and Kenneth Ray Munger.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy (English) Munger, of 56 years. They were united in marriage on December 20, 1958 at St. Adalberts Catholic Church.
Tom’s favorite things to do were being on the water and pontificating on any subject that arose. You could ask Tom anything, and he always knew the answer – no fact check needed! He was a jack of all trades – He loved being a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Elks and was a long serving member of the Knights of Columbus. The bingo crowd loved him!
Tom owned his own photography business, and worked many years as a machinist at AT&T. Tom loved being in the pilot or captain seat. He learned to fly, but his favorite pastime was eagerly expounding on the natural beauty of the lake as well as its famous residents and political intrigues – whether it was for family and friends on his own boat or first mate on the Ozark Princess for tourists.
Survivors include his two children Kenneth R. Munger and his wife Gretchen Geistdoerfer of Leawood, Kansas; Kathryn L. (Munger) Schmitz of Linn Creek, Missouri; four grandchildren: Brandon Geistdoerfer-Munger and wife Adonia David; Ryan Schmitz; Jay Schmitz and wife Courtney; and Andrea (Schmitz) Kerr and husband Zach; and five great-grandchildren: Jack Ryan Schmitz, Harlow Rae Schmitz, Beckem Jay Schmitz, Crew Thomas Schmitz and Myles Douglas Kerr.

Thomas R. Johnson, Jr.
May 21, 1931 – January 16, 2021
Thomas Riley Johnson, Jr was born in Omaha on May 21,1931 to Thomas Riley Johnson and Neta May (Cady) Johnson. He was the fourth of six children. His siblings were Beth, Terrance, Aileen, Neta and Mike. As a child he moved frequently from Nebraska to Washington State. When he was a teen, he landed at Omaha Home for Boys which helped direct him on a clearer path and helped shape him as a man. He attended Tech High School where he met the love of his life, Donna Lee Lyons. They were married at the young age of 16 and 17 in 1949 in a small, intimate ceremony. He was welcomed in by her parents, Keith and Bertha Lyons. Tom fondly gave the nickname of “Pop” to his father-in-law.
Over the course of the next thirteen years, they became parents to six children. During this time, he worked as a Millwright at the Omaha Flour Mill and went on to retire from AT&T. From there he began his adventures of traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandkids and volunteering. He was a volunteer at the Lauritzen Gardens as a Master Gardener, Pioneers, Camp Creek Threshers, AARP, and Nebraska State Highway Patrol Motor Assistance Program. Tom was a Mason and sang for the Shriner’s Chanters. He was a long-standing member of Wheeler Church and joined West Hills Church in the late 1990s. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and had a great love for Jesus.
Tom knew how to make everyone he came in contact with feel special; whether you were family or not, you were treated that way. He was known for his giant hugs and big handshakes. He wasn’t afraid to show his love to others and made sure to tell them. He took joy in working in his wood shop and tinkering around with mechanics. He knew Omaha like the back of his hand and would take several detours just to spend extra time in the car. We will all miss his tight squeezes, his raspberry cheek kisses, his goofy nature, and his gentle-giant heart.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Donna Lee Lyons Johnson; sons: Tom (Joyce) Johnson, David (Nancy) Johnson, Stephen (Kay) Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Timothy (June) Johnson; daughter, Amee (Steve) Thedens; grandchildren: Lindsy (Johnny) Brown, Paul Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Stephanie (Jim) Riley, Andy Johnson, Nathan (Tonya) Thedens, Ben Johnson, Chris (Somer) Johnson, Erika (Chris) Hanna, Joanna Johnson, Kelsy Johnson, Jordan (Nicole) Johnson and Tim Thedens; great-grandchildren: Anthony (Ashley) Thibault, Connor Thibault, Dawson Brown, Elee Brown, Macklin Hanna, Timothy “TJ” Riley, Everly Hanna, Lydia Colvin, Lilyon Johnson, Henrik Hanna, Isabella Riley, Gryffin Johnson, and Mikey Johnson.
VISITATION observing CDC guidelines: Tuesday, January 19th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel. PRIVATE Funeral Service: Wednesday, January 20th at 11am. Memorials are suggested to Omaha Home for Boys and the Alzheimer’s association, Nebraska Chapter.
